Transition to General Management Bootcamp
......Value Creation in Action
Once you have completed the four-week Transition to General Management programme you have the option to return to INSEAD to apply your skills and knowledge in a business management simulation.
The Transition to General Management Bootcamp is designed to turn your insights from the programme into action. It is less about discussing and learning than doing. In one intensive week on campus, we take you through a series of dynamic activities that will help you to put the key theme of value creation into practice in your organisation.

Day one – Managing for value and Blue Line Management in Action
You will be given a brief review of the most important concepts from the Transition to General Management programme – with updates, examples and new reflections. You will then apply those, primarily the finance concepts, using spreadsheets to analyse the past performance of a company and develop a forecast in order to assess the value impact of a business decision.
Day two – Developing, pitching and getting buy-in to your business plan
You will turn a conceptual idea into a concrete business plan for a new product, business or business unit whilst ensuring long-term value creation in the business.
This day will be highly challenging with continuous application as participants develop the value proposition of their venture and then develop the business plan (needed resources, implied investments, operating costs, products to be sold, revenues to be generated, etc.) interjected with short plenary sessions to support the effort.
Days three to five – Team business competition
As part of a team-based exercise, you will create and develop a new business in a new geography – with minimal support from corporate headquarters. Your success (and that of the other teams) will be measured according to the primary objective, which remains, as always, value creation.
This part of the programme entails a fully computerised competitive business simulation (the SIGMA Challenge) set in a highly competitive and international environment that requires participants to take a comprehensive and global view of the business to be successful. It allows them to see and experience the linkages across strategy, finance, marketing, operations and cross-cultural team dynamics, and to experience first-hand the leadership competencies required to build a high-performing team, an essential attribute of successful companies from start-up to continuing operations. The SIGMA Challenge core simulation boasts multiple scenarios that can also be easily extended by adding various existing additional modules so as to meet specific training needs and time constraints.
