A joint programme
As an INSEAD/Wharton alliance programme, Strategic R&D Management is a five-day programme, delivered in one of three locations: Singapore, Fontainebleau or Philadelphia.
World-class faculty
The Strategic R&D Management programme is led by an international team of leading faculty in product innovation management. Participants will benefit from the faculty’s deep knowledge of strategic R&D management in diverse industries and countries as well as from their first-hand industry experience.
A rich learning environment
Through case studies, experiential exercises, group work, and lectures, participants learn from their peers and receive immediate feedback from faculty. This enhances the learning experience and helps them develop a broader business perspective. By focusing on the business outcome of R&D, the programme will equip executives with tools for creating value added through creativity and innovation.
In order to create a sustained stream of innovation, many aspects of a system must run simultaneously. The programme is structured in order to understand the components of this system including:
- Organisational innovativeness and idea creation
- Innovation strategy and how it is executed by the new product portfolio
- Managing capacity: prioritising the new product portfolio in the R&D pipeline
- Measuring project performance and overall innovation performance
- Managing a portfolio of processes for different types of innovations (from incremental to radical)
- Co-ordination and effective organisational structures for product innovation
- Architectures, platforms and cost management in R&D
- R&D partnerships and alliances: strategies and processes
- Transferring knowledge
- Innovation culture and managing professionals
