"Professor Manzoni speaks about INSEAD’s new groundbreaking leadership programme for senior leaders. LEAP is based on Professor Manzoni’s experience working with senior executives over more than 20 years and his own cutting-edge research. "
Leadership is a lifelong process of continuous improvement and research shows that great leaders can – and should – continue to learn and develop throughout their career. But this is not always an easy process. All too often, senior leaders experience a knowing-doing gap. They know what they should be doing to improve their performance but lack the time, energy or techniques to put these ideas into practice. In addition, the more senior the position, the riskier it becomes to experiment on the job; errors by top managers can be costly for themselves, for the people they work with and for the company.
As a result, it is difficult for busy, successful and proud executives to practise new knowledge and new approaches, especially when they go against deeply ingrained behavioural patterns or long-standing habits. This is why we have created the LEAP: Leadership Excellence through Awareness and Practice programme.
LEAP has been designed to help you bridge the knowing-doing gap by identifying and internalising the new behavioural knowledge and responses you need to improve the way you lead.
Key benefits
Reflect on (and redefine some of) your leadership and personal objectives
Improve your understanding of your leadership style - its roots and its effect on you and others
Close the knowing-doing gap and really develop new capabilities through the selection of key areas for development and regular feedback and practice
Become a more reflective leader and increase your ability to keep learning in the future – your best competitive asset in a fast-changing world

Conceived as a one-year journey, LEAP is a tightly integrated experience that makes efficient use of your time. The three residential modules combine plenary and group work, supported by world-class business professors, outstanding guest speakers and top professional coaches. Between modules, short weekly follow-ups with the same faculty and coaches give you the support to practise further – and perfect your learning.
LEAP is a laboratory where you can step back in order to reflect on your ‘normal’ responses and experiment with new ones. In so doing you will learn to face your professional – and personal – challenges of today and tomorrow far more effectively than you ever dreamed possible.
The journey starts before Module I with targeted and focused pre-programme preparation. It continues after Module III with a long-term development plan. The residential modules feature a mix of approaches that provide opportunities to practise and get feedback from fellow participants, professional coaches and professors. Each module concludes with the creation/revision of an individual action plan and a re-entry exercise. The programme will address leadership challenges at three distinct yet connected levels.
Organisational level
Inter-personal level
Intra-personal level
This programme is designed for senior executives who already occupy significant leadership positions, including: top managers (e.g., CEO, Managing Director, Executive Vice-President) in large and medium-sized corporations; senior partners in professional firms; senior executives in not-for-profit organisations; entrepreneurs; owners of large family businesses; and Board members of any such organisations.
Our goal is to constitute a rich and diverse group of peers willing and able to make a significant investment in their own – and their classmates’ – learning and development.
Conceived as a one-year journey, LEAP is a tightly integrated experience that makes efficient use of your time
The journey starts before Module I, with targeted and focused pre-programme preparation. The three residential Modules (8 days, 5 days and again 5 days) will feature a mix of approaches that provide opportunities to practice and get feedback from fellow participants, professional coaches and faculty including:
Cases: to provide shared references and/or to illustrate particularly interesting situations, leaders or organisations.
Own material and challenges: to enable you to reflect on yourself and to be open about yourself with the group
Experiential learning: to create here-and-now-behaviour that can then be learnt from, and to practise and progressively internalise alternative responses
Peer coaching and professional coaching: to support you throughout the programme - during every module and between modules
Selected interventionsby experts and testimonies: of senior leaders reflecting on their life and career
International discussions from a highly diverse group of participants: taking advantage of the Asian location, particularly with respect to the selection of experts and guest leaders.
The journey will continue between the residential Modules, back at work, through a weekly contact of manageable intensity (30 to 60 minutes). These contacts will take a different form from one week to another to ensure that they remain stimulating and fresh.
It will also continue after the last residential Module, though continued contact with coach and peers and through Faculty support to the exclusive LEAP alumni community
