Organisations and societies need leaders, in part for their skills in judgement. The growing interconnectedness of today's business environments raises uncertainty and complexity, which in turn make good judgement even more important.
Several inherent flaws in the process of delivering judgment prevent leaders from exercising good judgment. It turns out that business schools are quite good in helping future leaders look out for and overcome several of these flaws. However, to negotiate some inherent flaws in our approaches to delivering business judgments, business schools must point leaders to a hitherto under-leveraged resource – themselves.
In his presentation, Professor Narayan Pant will discuss ways to improve judgment and urge that leaders should complement traditional approaches to building judgment with new approaches that focus on the person rather than the decision.
